Volunteer at Sojourn

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Sojourn. We appreciate your desire to support our mission of providing high quality and comprehensive support services to victims of domestic violence in Los Angeles County and across the country.

All interested individuals must attend a mandatory 40-hour domestic violence counselor training program mandated by California Evidence Code §1037.1.  Trainings are held in the spring and fall. After you have attended all training sessions and volunteered with our organization for 6 months, you will receive a certificate of achievement which will indicate completion of your training.

Sojourn’s 40-hour training will cover everything from crisis intervention and peer counseling skills to legal and social service resources, with help from experts in their respective fields. (If you are not interested in volunteering with Sojourn but wish to further your education on domestic violence, you can attend the training for a fee of $250.00.)

The next training will be held starting April 2, 2019.
Volunteer opportunities include working in the following areas: 24-Hour Hotline, empowerment playgroups, support groups, court/visitation accompaniment, interpretation/translation; horticultural therapy, donation sorting, transportation and clerical work. Click here to download the volunteer application. Or, for more information, please email sojournvolunteertraining@thepeopleconcern.org or call 310-264-6646 ext. 225
