Our Services

The People Concern provides integrated services to the most vulnerable and traumatized members of the community who are in need of assistance – individuals who are chronically homeless, dealing with severe mental or physical illness or substance addiction, victims of domestic violence and challenged youth. The People Concern’s system of care addresses the complex problems of this diverse population through our core services.

Outreach & Engagement
Outreach provides us with the opportunity to engage a client where they are; on their own turf, on their own terms, and work to develop a trusting relationship that will culminate in providing many services including housing and physical and mental health care.

Following a “Housing First” model, we work closely with program participants to get them housed as quickly as possible.

Mental Health Care
Clinical outreach and field-based crisis intervention from our integrated clinical and non-clinical staff, support groups, and psychiatric care is provided.

Medical Care
With access to onsite, mobile, and in-home medical care, The People Concern program participants are able to maintain and improve their health and relieve some of the stress on public services.

Substance Abuse Services
A “Harm Reduction” approach is employed whether program participants are still homeless or already in permanent housing.

Domestic Violence
Sojourn provides shelter and assistance for victims of domestic violence, including children.

Wellness & Life Skills Programs
The Wellness Program provides our program participants with psychosocial and life skills interventions to increase their coping skills and improve their quality of life.

Income Assistance
As soon as program participants begin receiving intensive case management, staff begin to help them compile the documentation necessary to acquire any benefits to which they are entitled, and are assisted at each step of the application process.

At-Risk Youth and Shelter Dogs
k9 connection is an experience-based program which educates and inspires at-risk teens through the experience of bonding with and training homeless shelter dogs.
